The Center for After-School Excellence invites you to a forum to examine the latest research and practice aimed at fighting summer learning loss among kids. Hear about how well-designed summer programs can provide kids with activities that excite and engage them, and integrate academics to prevent kids from losing ground on math and literacy skills.

This is an opportunity to discuss research and policy changes to help create opportunities for high-quality summer learning for all kids. Bring your questions about how to design activities and prepare staff to run summer programs that produce best outcomes.

A panel discussion will feature:

  • Ron Fairchild
Executive Director, The Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University
  • Earl Martin Phalen
Co-founder and CEO, BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life)
  • Barry Garst, Ph.D
Director of Research Application, American Camp Association
  • Beth M. Miller
